Kite & Wing

300 days of wind, two minutes from your bed

Kitesurfing, wingfoiling, windsurfing — Tarifa is Europe's wind sports capital, and the apartment sits right by the action. Here's what we tell our guests.

Two winds to know

Everything in Tarifa revolves around which one is blowing.

Levante — from the east

Warm, dry and strong — it can blow for days on end. Powerful kite weather; experienced riders head to Valdevaqueros and Balneario.

Poniente — from the west

The Atlantic westerly: smoother, steadier and side-onshore — ideal for learning, wingfoiling, and long relaxed sessions at Los Lances.

The spots

Los Lances beach with windsurfers
Los Lances
4 min away

Your local: a huge sandy beach with room for everyone. All levels, schools on the sand, best on Poniente.

Windsurfers at the water's edge
Valdevaqueros
10 min away

The dune, the beach bars, the scene. Comes alive on strong Levante days — big kites, big air.

Windsurfers by the rocks with the Strait behind
Balneario
walkable

Experts only — strong wind, waves and the harbour wall. Great spectating from the promenade with a coffee.

Kite Obsession — right across the road

Our one-stop recommendation, directly opposite the apartment: gear shop, rentals and a kite school. Lessons, kit for every wind, storage advice — tell them you're staying with Tino.

New to kitesurfing? Perfect.

Tarifa is the best place in Europe to learn: warm(ish) water, sandy bottoms, huge beaches and more schools than anywhere else on the continent. Most guests go from zero to their first rides in three or four days.

On the rare still day: surf or SUP at Playa Chica, hike in the cork forests, or take the ferry to Tangier for lunch in Morocco.
